Seven die as jeep falls into gorge in Skardu
SKARDU: At least seven people died and three other injured as a jeep fell into a gorge here on Sunday.
A local resident Ghulam Ali Wafa said that a Skardu-bound jeep coming from Deosai skidded off road and plunged into a ravine in Satpara area of the district.He said that five people died on the spot in the accident and three others were injured.
Police and local people reached the scene of the accident and started rescue operation. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital where two more succumbed to their wounds raising death toll to seven, while condition of the injured person was also stated to be critical.The deceased, all hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, were on visit to scenic Deosai valley to celebrate the weekend when they met with tragic accident while returning home.
