The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the federal and provincial law officers on petitions against illegal detention of citizens allegedly by law enforcers.
Petitioners Mohammad Moosa, Khatija, Shakeel Ahmed, Mohammad Asif, Sher Mohammad Khan, Mohammadi Begum and Alam Munir Husain submitted that law enforcers had picked up Mohsin Moosa, Abdul Salam, Hussain Ahmed, Mohammad Kashif, Habib Khan, Shamim Haider and Mehboob Munir Hussain from Lyari, Manzoor Colony, Steel Town, Korangi, Sohrab Goth, Gulbahar and lines area and their whereabouts were still unknown.
The petitioners submitted that the police and personnel of the law enforcement agencies were not disclosing their whereabouts and they had not been produced before any court of the law.
They expressed apprehension of their lives and requested the court to order for their appearance in the court and direct the respondents to provide details any charges against them.
The court, after preliminary hearing of the petitions, issued notices to the federal and provincial law officers and others and called their comments on the next date of hearing.
Contractor granted bail
The Sindh High Court has granted protective bail to a contractor in a NAB inquiry pertaining to default of loan and not completing construction of a private bank project.
Arif Ali Shah Bukhari approached court for obtaining pre-arrest bail in NAB inquiry pertained to loan default and non-completion of a Rs.721.903 million construction project of a private bank.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted that his client had not caused any default or loss to the private bank and questioned initiation of the inquiry by the NAB in a private nature contract dispute.
Seeking protective bail, he apprehended arrest at the hand of the NAB.
The court granted protective bail to the petitioner with a sum of Rs1 million and directed him to surrender his passport before the court. The court also directed the petitioner to cooperate with the investigation and issued notice to the NAB and others for September 1.
