Robbers continue looting spree with impunity

GUJRANWALA: Several people were deprived of cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables in different incidents on Saturday.

At Wahndo, gunmen intercepted Shahbaz and his wife and snatched Rs 27,000, gold ornaments and two cell phones from him.

Zaheer and his wife were deprived of Rs 32,000, gold ornaments and a cell phone in Alipur Chattha. In Tatlewali, bandits snatched Rs 16,000 and two cell phones from Jamil. Robbers snatched Rs 13,000 and two cell phones from Luqman in Ahmadnagar.

AT Noshera Virkan, dacoits took away Rs 40,000 and two cell phones from Iqbal.

Gunmen deprived Guria of Rs 22,000 and a cell phone in Kotwali area. A new motorcycle of Mukarram was stolen from Model Town area. Thieves took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the houses of Salman, Ismail and Rizwan from different places.

PROTEST AGAINST POLICE: Shopkeepers of Sialkot Road auto market Saturday protested against police inaction. The traders staged the protest in the wake of theft of costly things from four shops of the market.

They alleged the police was not taking any action against thieves. They said it was beyond their comprehension as how thieves stole costly things when the market is located near the police station and police patrolling is conducted on the road all the night. The shopkeepers demanded immediate arrest of thieves.

CYLINDER BLAST KILLS MAN: A worker died in a cylinder blast at Small Industrial Estate Gujranwala on Saturday. Reportedly, Rehmat of Muridke was working in a cable manufacturer factory when a gas cylinder exploded, leaving him injured critically. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where he died. Sadar police have registered a case.

FOOD POISONING: Nine people of a family, including six women, were rushed to the DHQ Hospital when they fainted after consuming toxic food.

Reportedly, Fiza, Iqra, Maryam, Madiha, Wakeela, Afshan, Tufail, Imran, Irfan drank milk at home and fainted. Rescue-1122 rushed them to the DHQ Hospital.

CLASS 9 RESULT: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, Saturday announced the 9th class result of the examination 2016. According to details, 240,105 candidates appeared in the examination and 129,670 passed it with 54.01 pass percentage.
