Lawyers’ strike against Quetta carnage tomorrow
Islamabad: The legal fraternity will observe complete strike on Monday, August 22 across the country against the Quetta carnage and will hold a protest demonstration in front of the Parliament House pressing for immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the tragic incident in which over 70 people were martyred mostly lawyers and injured scores of others.
After the tragic incident of Quetta bomb blast, the Pakistan Bar Council on August 13 had given a deadline to the federal government and provincial government of Balochistan for exposing and apprehending until August 19, the culprits behind the conspiracy of Quetta. As the said deadline expired on Friday, the Pakistan Bar Council in pursuance to its resolution passed in its 215th meeting held on August 13 at Islamabad resolved that the lawyers from across the country will observe Strike on Monday, 22nd August, 2016 and hold protest demonstration in front of the Parliament House from 11:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. to lodge their protest against the Quetta carnage.
The PBC in its press release issued on Friday stated that the legal fraternity will press for their demands for immediate arrest of culprits of the tragic incident and immediate payment of monetary support to families of martyrs and injured Advocates etc.
The Lawyers will also observe strike throughout Pakistan on Monday wherein the Vice-Chairmen, Chairmen, Executive Committees, Pakistan & provincial/Islamabad Bar Councils, Presidents, High Court & District Bar Associations and other leaders of the Bar will lead the demonstration, says the PBC press release.
