CHARSADDA: The trader community on Friday protested against demolition of three shops in the main Charsadda Bazaar on Nowshera Road by dozens of armed men with the help of bulldozers and termed the action illegal.

The protesting traders led by central chairman of Tajir Ittehad Mian Muffariq Shah and senior vice-president Lal Muhammad Lal took out a rally and gathered at Farooq Azam Chowk. The protesters were also accompanied by the opposition leader in the district council, Qasim Ali Khan Muhammadzai.

They accused the local police as well as district government and district administration of supporting the armed men to bulldoze the shops.  They lamented that items worth hundreds of thousands rupees were buried under the rubble.
