Pervaiz condemns attack on news channel van
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday strongly condemned incident of firing on van of Dawn News television channel in Karachi. In a statement issued here the minister said that such attacks tantamount to attack on freedom of expression and unacceptable for the government. In coordination with provincial governments the federal government was taking all possible measures to ensure safety and security of the media persons, he added. The minister said the provincial government should take an immediate cognizance of the incident to bring culprits to book. He prayed for early recovery of the injured.
Imtiaz Shaikh joins PPP

KARACHI: Former bureaucrat and a politician connected to the Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) and sitting Special Assistant to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh called on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in London on Thursday and joined the Pakistan People’s Party. According to a press release issued here by the Bilawal House, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur were present when Imtiaz Shaikh announced to join the PPP. The PPP leadership and workers have welcomed Imtiaz Shaikh on joining the party, said a statement of the Bilawal House. Imtiaz Shaikh is also a sitting member of the Sindh Assembly from Shikarpur.
Five missing children reunited in Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore police reunited five missing children with their parents on Thursday.Gujjarpura police handed over two children, Muhammad Ahmad and Fraz, to their parents. Faisal Town police handed over two children, Shamoon and Wajid Ali, to their parents and Nishtar Colony police handed over a boy, Taiyab, to his parents.
Woman found slaughtered
BATKHELA: A woman was found murdered in Dargai tehsil in Malakand Agency on Thursday, official sources said. They said that unidentified persons had slaughtered a woman and threw her body at a deserted area in Musa Mina in Dargai tehsil. Officials of the Malakand Levies took the body to a hospital.
OKARA: An assailant died when he jumped from a wall of a quarter after inflicting injuries to a man with a dagger on Thursday. Aan unidentified armed intruder entered Central Benazir Avenue Railway Quarter of Muhammad Mansab Ali and inflicted injuries to Mansab. When he faced resistance he climbed the wall of the quarter and jumped down and died on the spot.
IDP killed in toy bomb explosion

BANNU: An IDP from North Waziristan Agency was killed while a child sustained injuries in a toy bomb explosion at the IDPs camp in Bakkakhel, official sources said on Thursday.They said unidentified persons had placed a toy bomb in fuel wood which went off when a displaced person was taking the wood for burning. As a result, an IDP Saeedur Rehman was killed while a child Saba Naz sustained injuries. She was taken to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital.
PARACHINAR: More than 130 more students fainted after taking food items from the canteens of several schools here on Thursday, official sources said. They said over 130 schoolchildren in Parachinar fainted after consuming the stuff. The children were shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Parachinar where they were provided medical treatment. Agency Surgeon Dr Moeen Begum said that all the affected children were in stable condition.
