Azeem, Irfan, Amir, Murad in badminton semis
KARACHI: Azeem Sarwar, Irfan Saeed, Amir Saeed and Murad Ali cruised into the semi-finals of men’s singles event in All Pakistan National Ranking Badminton Tournament in Lahore.
Irfan will meet Azeem, while Murad will play against Amir.
In the quarter-finals, Azeem recovered from a set down to beat Awais Zahid 20/22, 22/20, 21/8; Irfan defeated Anjum Bashir 21/14, 21/10; Amir thrashed Abdur Rehman 21/14, 21/16; and Murad dispatched Ahsan Qamar 21/16, 21/11.
Meanwhile, Palwasha Bashir, Sidra Hamid, Sehra Akram and Khizra Rasheed reached pre-finals of women’s singles event.
Palwasha will meet Sidra and Sehra will play against Khizra.
In men’s doubles semi-finals, Irfan and Azeem will play against Hashir Bashir and Murad Ali, while Kashif Sulhari and Kashif Majeed will play against Aoun Abbas and Soban Jamil.
In women’s doubles semi-finals, Khizra Rasheed and Sidra Hamid will play against Mahoor Shahzad and Sara Mohmand. The duo of Ghazala Saddique and Javeria Tahir will play against Saima Waqas and Palwasha.
