PHC restrains NAB from arresting eight AWKUM officials
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from arresting and harassing eight serving and former officials of the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) during inquiry regarding appointments, use of funds and the award of scholarships at the university.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Roohul Amin Khan was hearing the petition. The eight serving and former AWKUM officials including former registrar Professor Zahoorul Haq had filed the writ petition through their lawyer, Arshad Ali, seeking an order of the court to restrain the NAB from their arrest and harassment during the process of inquiry against them. The lawyer argued that the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had already arrested Zahid Mehmood, a former superintendent of the university.
