Mufti Abdul Qavi says he will cooperate with police

Dispels rumors about going underground

MULTAN: Mufti Abdul Qavi on Monday said he would cooperate with the police in Qandeel Baloch case and rumors that he has gone underground are baseless.

Talking to The News at his ancestral seminary Jamia Obadia at Qadirabad, Mufti Abdul Qavi said that he had not gone underground or disappeared to avoid police investigation. He dispelled all allegations leveled against him in Qandeel Baloch case and said that all allegations were baseless and against the ground realities. “I am present at my house-cum-seminary and police can investigate me”, he added. He said that police had given him a questionnaire carrying 14 questions a couple of days ago and he had submitted all answers. The questionnaire sought answers on books written by him on different topics, he told. Mufti Abdul Qavi informed that questions were asked from him on his cleric and domestic details as well as foreign tours, his family background, his education and public offices. He said that he was also asked to inform about his meeting with Qandeel Baloch and his contacts with her family members in different times.

 

Two accused remanded in Qandeel Baloch case

MULTAN: A local magistrate on Monday granted five-day physical remand of accused taxi driver Abdul Basit and Zafar in Qandeel Baloch murder case.

The accused would be produced again before the court on August 20. Earlier, the court had sent two accused, Qandeel’s brother and prime accused Muhammad Wasim and cousin Haq Nawaz, on judicial jail a couple of days ago.
