Doctors, paramedical staff continue protest for 4th day

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) doctors and paramedical staff continued their protest against the transfer of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Principal Prof Dr Haroon Khursheed Pasha for the fourth consecutive day here.
The protesting doctors and other staff also took out a rally from the Outdoor Ward and after rounding the BVH reached outside the BVH MS office where they raised slogans against the QMC principal transfer and demanded immediate cancellation of the transfer. They vowed that their protest would continue till cancellation of the transfer.
People torture youth on suspicion of kidnapping children

BAHAWALPUR: Residents of Tibi Data, Noorpur Nauranga and surrounding areas on Monday allegedly tortured a youth on suspicion of kidnapping children from their areas.
The people caught a youth and severely tortured him on suspicion of kidnapping children from Tibi Data. The people refused to hand over the alleged kidnapper to police by saying that they would hand him over to the Pak Army as they had no confidence in police. The people also protested against the rising kidnapping incidents and blocked traffic on the KLP National Highway. Later, a police team led by DSP Sadar Circle Rao Jamshed Akhtar and others get the alleged kidnapper released from the protesters and shifted him to the RHC Sma Stta due to severe injuries.
The DSP said that action would be taken against the protesters who violated the law by blocking the National Highway.
PO killed in ‘encounter’

BAHAWALPUR: A notorious proclaimed offender was killed during an ‘encounter’ with police near Haroonabad on Sunday night.
According to a spokesman for the Bahawalnagar DPO Office, PO Imran alias Mani was allegedly looting passers-by near Chak 66/4-R along with his two accomplices when the police reached the site and tried to arrest the PO. At this, the PO opened fire at the police, which was retaliated. As a result, Imran was killed on the spot. However, his two accomplices fled.
