Labourer electrocuted

LAHORE

A 35-year-old labourer was electrocuted in Shadbagh on Saturday.

The SHO said that the victim Ghulam Baqir was breaking the ceiling of a house in Bhagatpura when he touched a live wire due to damage to wiring. The victim received an electric shock and fell unconscious. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidences from the scene and registered statements of  eye-witnesses. The SHO said that the victim belonged to Vehari and they had informed his family.

booked: Four relatives including a woman were booked on Saturday for alleged murder of a 46-year-old man.

Police said that the victim Muhammad Afzal Bhatti was recovered hanging with a fan in his room on Friday. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidences from crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses.

Shahzad, brother of the victim, told police that his brother had been killed by his relatives Fahad Ali, Ghulam Nabi, Razia and another suspect. He said that they would usually quarrel with his brother on a property dispute. He alleged that the suspects had murdered his brother on Friday and hanged his body with a fan to pose it as suicide. Police arrested the suspects and started investigations. Police said that facts would be revealed after autopsy and further investigations.

accident:  A 30-year-old man died in a road accident in Hayer on Saturday.

The SHO said that the victim Mian Bahadar Ali, a resident of Arifwala, was riding a car but lost control due to speeding. The vehicle overturned and he received injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where doctors pronounced him dead.

Compensation: Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law, along with Home Secretary Punjab Major (R) Azam Suleman and Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig. (R) Dr. Arsahd Zia presented a Rs 3.2 million cheque as financial compensation to widow (Mrs Fatima Majeed) of Ex-District Emergency Officer Narowal Dr. Munawwar Ali Shaheed on behalf of the government of Punjab. The minister  said the government would also take care of the family in all respect in future.

The Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig. (R) Arshad Zia also completed the employment procedure for his wife and said Rescue 1122 shall always be with deceased family to give moral and financial support.

Meanwhile,  Director General Emergency Services Academy (Rescue 1122) Brig. (R) Amir Hamza, while addressing  officials of Centaurus Group, said that the training institute had become a National Centre of Excellence through imparting professional training of disaster management, community safety and awareness among over 16000 rescuers and emergency professionals of different provinces of Pakistan.

He said that besides training rescuers, the academy was also educating and providing training to different public and private organizations so that in case of any disaster, trained emergency professionals of other organizations should come forward and work shoulder-to-shoulder with Rescue 1122.

Course Coordinator Marine Engr. Abrar Hassan informed the director general that the academy had trained 20 professionals of the Centaurus Group by giving them training and hands-on-practice pertaining to fire, rescue, medical, height rescue, urban search and rescue, deep well rescue and flood management.
