Four arrested in Kohat in Indian national’s murder case
KOHAT: The police arrested four accused including two women allegedly involved in the murder of an Indian national, an official said on Wednesday.District Police officer (DPO) Sohaib Maqsood said that the police found the body of the woman in her house in Kohat Development Authority (KDA) on July 28 last.
He said that the woman had been shot in the head and the incident was thought to be a case of suicide. He said that the Indian national was a Sikh and converted to Islam and had contracted love marriage with one Abdul Wahid some 15 years ago. He said the couple has three children including a boy and two girls. He said the Indian national, who changed her name to Ayesha after conversion to Islam, had then shifted to Kohat with her husband. He said that Abdul Wahid was in Dubai in connection with his job.
He said that the police checked the mobile-phone data of the slain woman and traced the accused.He said that the preliminary investigation suggested that she was murdered for land, gold ornaments and money. The DPO said that husband of the slain woman told the police that one of his relatives, Habibullah, had expelled his wife and three children from the house and had snatched the property.
He added that later his wife had filed a case against the accused and a court had decided the case in their favour. He said that the accused was his close relative and alleged that the accused had then planned to kill his wife for property and money.
The official said that the police arrested four accused including Habibullah, his brother Shafqat, his wife Aaini and a relative Surayya Bibi in connection with the murder.He said the police also recovered the stolen gold ornaments, cash and a pistol allegedly used in the murder, a rifle and some cartridges from the accused.The DPO announced cash reward and commendation certificates for the investigation team.
