Israr reaches World Junior Squash quarters
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Israr Ahmed moved into the quarter-finals of the World Junior Squash Championship (individual category) at Bielsko-Biaa, Poland, on Monday.
In the round four, Israr beat his countryman Abbas Shoukat 11-6, 12-10, 11-4 in 33 minutes.
He will now face Marwan Tarek Abdelhamid of Egypt in the quarters.
Velavan Senthilkumar of India won against Kashif Asif 5-11, 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 in 35 minutes in the fourth round.
Earlier, Kashif had overpowered Karim Magdy of Egypt 12-10, 11-3, 9-11, 11-1 in 72 minutes in the third round.
Ahsan Ayaz, Abbas, Israr, Mehran Javed, and Kashif, accompanied by coach Amjad Khan and manager Qamar Zaman, are participating in this championship. Pakistan were the runners-up in the team category of the last edition of the championship.
