Woman burnt alive in Lahore
LAHORE: A 22-year-old woman was burnt alive allegedly by her brother in-law in the Shad Bagh police area on Saturday.
Police said the victim, Sidra of Shakargarh, Narowal district, was married to her cousin Waqas Ali of Bhagatpura, Shad Bagh, about two years ago.
On the day of the incident, the victim and her niece were at home when her husband’s elder brother Waris Ali came there. He was carrying petrol with him. Finding his sister-in-law alone, he locked her in a room, sprinkled petrol, set her ablaze and fled the scene.
Her niece started screaming after seeing flames rising from the room. Police later removed the body to morgue.
City Division SP Operation Muhammad Naveed said the suspect was engaged with her before her marriage with his brother. He was abroad for work when his brother tied the knot. He said that the accused had also business dispute with his younger brother.
