Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed grief over the sad deaths in rain-related incidents, including through electrocutions by fallen electricity wires in Sindh and asked the cabinet and the elected representatives to stay alert in their respective areas during the monsoons.

In a press statement on Saturday, he asked the authorities to ensure that rainwater was drained away within the shortest possible time.

The PPP chairman stressed that the federal government should also make certain that its transmission electricity lines were maintained properly and secured against playing havoc during rains.

He pointed out that unannounced loadshedding of long durations during the rainy season was making the life of people miserable. He said K-Electric’s inefficiency plunged almost the entire Karachi into darkness while Hyderabad and Sukkur electricity supply companies

inflicted worst conditions in their areas.

Bilawal said that losses in rain-related incidents could be averted or minimised through proper planning and precautionary measures.

However, he greeted the people in Thar and Kohistan and hoped that the drought would fade away in those rain-thirsty mountainous and sand regions.
