MULTAN: Duty Magistrate Muhammad Haris Muneer on Friday granted police four-day physical remand of accused Haq Nawaz in Qandeel Baloch murder case.
Investigation Officer Inspector Atia Jafri produced the accused, cousin of Qandeel Baloch, before the judge and sought his nine-day remand. However, the judge granted four-day remand.
The investigation officer said that the mobile phone and passport of Qandeel Baloch had been recovered from her cousin Haq Nawaz and nine-day remanded was needed for more recovery. She said that the accused had helped the prime accused, Muhammad Wasim, in killing Qandeel Baloch. The investigation officer told the court that there were clear evidences that Qandeel’s cousin Haq Nawaz was directly involved in planning the murder.
Earlier, police had arrested accused Haq Nawaz on cancellation of his bail before arrest on July 30 and the court granted his five-day physical remand on July 31. The accused, Haq Nawaz, was arrested when prime accused Muhammad Wasim named him in the murder during investigation.
Talking to newsmen after his arrest, Haq Nawaz claimed that Waseem had implicated him in the case. He said that he was not aware how or when Qandeel was murdered.
Qandeel Baloch was murdered in her house for honour. Her brother Waseem Ahmad was named as the prime accused in the case and he had confessed to committing the crime. Police had arrested accused Wasim from Dera Ghazi Khan on July 16.
Police insiders said that no more polygraph test was needed and the challan would be submitted in the second week of the current month. The polygraph test of prime accused Muhammad Wasim and his cousin Haq Nawaz had already been completed.
Meanwhile, police have gathered Qandeel Baloch’s mobile phone data and started contacting persons, who made calls on her number before her murder. Police have also contacted a number of journalists after tracing their cellular numbers from the mobile phone of Qandeel Baloch.
