Rulers amending law to protect themselves, says Qadri
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri warned the rulers against passing a law, what he termed as an attempt at genocide of 200 million people of Pakistan, as Sharif Brothers pushed for the legislation to save their neck in the Model Town carnage case, TV reports stated.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the government is silently busy attempting to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), aimed at protecting the Sharif Brothers from the Model Town massacre case.
“The rulers are going to announce a war against justice; hence, they will slaughter justice for the second time after the June 17 massacre,” the PAT chief added and said the rulers now wanted to amend the 1898 Act and bulldoze the articles 200 to 204 so as to escape justice and Qisas in the Model town incident.
Dr. Tahirul Qadri said that the prime minister has announced an open war against justice and the people and the whole plan was prepared under the supervision of the Punjab Chief Minister. He said the proposed amendments have been sent to Islamabad for further proceedings. He said this is open government-sponsored terrorism by the Sharifs.
He said that this proposal for amendment in the Criminal Justice Law comes at a time when a petition of the PAT for filing a case against the Sharifs is being heard in Anti-Terrorism Court. He said the case is being heard under the same law which the Sharifs are bent upon amending so that they can escape justice and don’t have to pay Qasas in the Model Town murder case. He said all the witnesses have gone against the Sharifs and the Punjab Government and the case will be filed and they will be found guilty and will have to pay Qasas. He said under the proposed amendment if a person is denied the right to file a First Information Report, he will not have the right to approach a court of law. And a private compliant the petitioner will again have to approach the Station Head Officer (SHO) for the filing of a case. And only after the recommendation of the SHO can a petitioner approach a court.
The PAT chief said all this is being done only to escape the Qasas in the Model Town murder case but at the same time the 20 crore people of the country will also be deprived of the right to file a FIR. He said the government will employ retired officers to examine the private complaint.
Dr. Tahirul Qadri said that PAT is informing the politicians, political leaders and the civil society beforehand of the nefarious plan of the Government. He said sections 154 and 190 will be affected in the Criminal Justice Law. He said the little hope the people have will also be finished if this proposed amendment is approved. He said the law of Qasas connot be removed by the rulers and justice under the Qasas Law will be provided to the martyrs of Model Town.
Dr. Tahirul Qadri said that Nawaz Sharif want to become like the Turkish leader Tayyab Ardagan, but this dream will never be fulfilled and no law can save him from meeting his fate in the Model Town case. The PAT leader declared that the Sharifs will have to pay Qasas in this case, come what may; we will ensure that this happens. He said our Qasas Movement begins on August 6 and will conclude on the 30th in Islamabad. But we pray that the need does not arise for the second and third phase of this movement.
