KARACHI: Provincial Disaster Management Authority-Sindh, on Sunday declared high alert in Hyderabad division and districts of Thatta as well as Sujawal following steady increase in flood water level at Guddu and Sukkur barrages periphery.
Director General, PDMA - Sindh, Syed Salman Shah in a statement said constant high and low is registered in massive flow of Indus water from upper areas hence urgent measures have been made for safety and protection of the people living in surrounding areas.
“Around 677581 people have moved from Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Hyderabad divisions,” said the PDMA chief for Sindh.He mentioned that 14370 inhabitants from flood affected areas have sought shelter at PDMA relief camps and are being provided with all needed assistance.
Syed Salman Shah said PDMA is continuing with its relief work in all relevant areas and so far the concerned district administrations have been provided with 26361 tents besides mats, generator fitted boats, heavy engine suction pumps. mosquito nets, solar lights, water tanks and all essential goods.He said the flood situation is being steadily monitored by PDMA from its Sukkur camp office.
