LAHORE
Hot and humid weather continued to prevail in the provincial capital while for Wednesday (today) Met office predicted scattered but heavy rain.
Met officials said heat low lies over northeast Balochistan and its adjoining area. They said monsoon currents were penetrating upper and central parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was prevailing over upper parts of the country.
They predicted that rain-thunderstorm with few heavy falls are expected at scattered places in Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan divisions), KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, DI Khan divisions), Islamabad, Fata and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Zhob and Kalat divisions. Light rain/drizzle is also expected along Sindh-Makran coast.
Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Sialkot (Cantt 92mm, AP 37mm), Islamabad (Bokra 66mm, Golra 02mm), Mandi Bahauddin (54mm), Jhelum (47mm), Gujrat (38mm), Mangla (30mm), Rawalpindi (19mm), Gujranwala (03mm), Murree (02mm), Malamjabba (37mm), Kakul (10mm), Peshawar and Balakot (04mm), Cherat (03mm), Kohat and Dir (02mm), Barkhan (03mm) and Kotli (03mm). Wednesday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Turbat where mercury hit 44°C.
