Woman severely beaten by five people

OKARA: An old woman was severely beaten by five people at Chak 19/1-R.
Sajjad Shah, Nasir Shah, Sattar Shah, Allah Moafi and an unidentified man entered the house of Janat Bibi and allegedly beat her over a family matter. The accused also fractured her arm.
Meanwhile, the victim filed a petition in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Khalid Bashir against Satghara police for not registering a case. The judge summoned the SHO on August 6 to state the reason for not registering a case.
Demo against medical rep for attempting to rape maid child

OKARA: Dozens of residents of Chak 36/4-L staged a demonstration against a medical representative for attempting to rape a minor girl here on Tuesday.
The protesters, including Muhammad Amir, General Councillor Sanaullah, Sultan Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad and Tariq, staged a demonstration outside the Okara press club and chanted slogans against medical representative M Asif.
They said that Asif took Bano to his house as a maid where he allegedly attempted to rape her. They said that the accused also beat his wife when she forbade him. They said that the accused fractured an arm of Bano.
On information, DSP Ziaul Haq along with policemen reached the spot and told the protesters that the incident took place in Sahiwal. Therefore, only Sahiwal police could take action against the accused. He, however, said that Okara police would help the girl in obtaining medico-legal certificate.
