‘CM keen to provide modern medical facilities to masses’

OKARA: Secretary Zakat and Ushr Hassan Iqbal Sunday visited the DHQ Hospital, Okara.
EDO (Health) Dr Javed Ahmad Goraya, Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Aslam Qaim Khani, Assistant Commissioner Chaudhry Tahir Amin and other heads of the district government were also with him.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, the secretary said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s main focus was on the merit policy. He said the CM wanted to provide the most standardized and modern medical facilities to the masses. He said the CM had brought revolutionary changes in the health sector. The secretary said owing to special attention of the CM good changes are visible in hospitals now. He said now hospitals have better sanitation, standardized medicines, air conditioning of emergencies and wards, quick appointment of doctors and paramedical staff, installation of medical machinery. The secretary said the same facilities would be provided at THQ hospitals.
Later, the secretary visited the District Zakat Office where District Zakat Officer Muhammad Rizwan Abdullah briefed him on the performance of the office.
FIVE DRUG PEDDLERS HELD: Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered narcotics from their possession on Sunday. The Renala police arrested accused Shaukat Ali of village 14/1L with 3 kg hashish. Sadr Depalpur police arrested accused Muhammad Aslam of Dalmain Ganj and recovered 60 litre liquor. Okara police arrested accused Naeem Ahmad with 20 litres liquor, and Shahbaz Ahmad with 20 litre liquor. Shergarh police arrested accused Akbar Khan with 565 gram charas. Cases were registered against the accused accordingly.
