Topsy-turvy
Maryam Nawaz Sharif tells us PIA will become a great airline again. While I would love to see that come true, should not this kind of statement come from Khawaja Asif, who holds that portfolio? And Khawaja Asif tells the parliamentary Standing Committee on defence that talks with India are impossible at present. The Standing Committee on Defence is not the proper forum to discuss foreign policy related matters. This kind of statement should have come from the Foreign Office. Interestingly, the very next day Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan was ready to talk to India.
In this confused government, ministers love to issue statements on matters other than their portfolios. And that makes confusion worse confounded. When will we learn?
