Crackdown ordered on illegal cattle markets

BAHAWALPUR: Commissioner Saqib Zafar Wednesday ordered a crackdown on illegal cattle markets in Bahawalpur division. The commissioner issued the directions while presiding over a high-level meeting of Cattle Management Company at his office. The meeting was attended by MPA Qazi Adnan Farid, MPA Umer Gujar, DCO Bahawalpur Dr Ahtesham Anwar Mahaar, Additional Commissioner Saqib Ali, Professor of Veterinary College Dr Umer Farooq, MD Cattle Management Company Waqar Ahmad and other officers and officials of the departments concerned. The meeting discussed strategy regarding fully operationalising the cattle management company. The commissioner said: “Livestock plays a vital role in our agro based economy. Therefore, the government was fully committed to extend all facilities to the formers to raise livestock. The Cattle Management Company should have a close vigil to ensure high hygienic environment through special cleanliness drive at the cattle markets in the division.” He urged the officials of the Cattle Management Company to maintain a proper record of sale and purchase of the cattle at the cattle markets.
