CPEC, Gwadar Port to bring prosperity, says President
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and development of Gwadar Port would lead to progress and prosperity in Pakistan particularly in Balochistan province.
He said the government was according the highest priority to carry out development in Balochistan for the people’s welfare and to bring it at par with other provinces.
The President was talking to Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai who called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The Governor briefed the President about the overall situation in Balochistan and the efforts for restoring law and order in the province, said a press release.
The President expressed satisfaction over the improved security situation in Balochistan saying that the government was undertaking steps for peace and stability in the region.
He said the completion of development projects together with CPEC would generate robust business activities and create enormous employment opportunities for the people of Balochistan and raise their living standard. He also expressed his satisfaction at the pace of development work in Balochistan. -APP
Standard of medical education: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday stressed improvement in standard of medical education in the country to produce professionally competent doctors so as to ensure efficient healthcare services.
Talking to Vice Chancellor National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) Lt. Gen. Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed, here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President said medicine is a noble profession and its practitioners should discharge their responsibilities as a sacred duty. He said in addition to medical services being provided by public sector hospitals the private sector also needs to complement the government’s efforts in providing health services.
The President called for establishment of more nursing hospitals for provision of healthcare facilities and overcoming the shortage of qualified nursing staff in the country.
Congratulating Lt. Gen. Imran Majeed on his appointment as Vice Chancellor NUMS, the President hoped that NUMS would make further strides in the field of medical education under his supervision.
The Vice Chancellor NUMS briefed the President about matters pertaining to NUMS and its future plans regarding provision of healthcare services in a professional manner.
