Chancellor committee meets at University of Okara

OKARA: Provincial Minister for Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, who is also a chairperson of Chancellor’s Committee (CC), Monday chaired the CC first meeting at the varsity’s conference room.
She said due to special efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif the luck of Okara would change through the University of Okara (UoO).
Eight members out of 11 of the CC attended the meeting. Begum Zakia Shahnawaz ex-officio member, Mian Muhammad Munir MPA, Miss Samina Noor Kharal MPA, Doctor Prof Rauf-e-Azam Additional Vice Chancellor UoO/ vice chancellor University of Education Lahore, Dr Muhammad Khaliqur Rehman, Dr Shahid Saroya Director General Punjab Higher Education Commission, Provincial Additional Secretary Law, SB Khalid and Dr Prof Khalid Saleem Principal UoO attended the meeting.
In the meeting the agenda comprising establishment of faculties, approval for academic programme in 2016-17, with admission and academic calendar, approval of rules & regulations regarding examinations, admission, discipline, MPhil, PhD, unfair means cases and refund of fee and funds, nomination for selection board, approval of additional charge of registrar, treasurer and controller of examination were discussed. The minister praised the efforts and struggle of MPA Munir in establishing the UoO replacing sub campus of the University of Education. She said it was MPA’s struggle which brought fruit and the notification of University of Okara was finally issued on April 1, 2016, and the regular admission would commence in September, 2016. On the occasion, Munir said he had got approved Rs 55 million grant by the CM for the approach road to UoO from the city along the northern side of railway track.
