JC report vindicates judiciary: Ch Iftikhar

ISLAMABAD: Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry claimed on Friday that the Judicial Commission (JC) report had vindicated him and the country’s judiciary.
Speaking to media representatives, he said the allegations on him hurled by Imran Khan had been proven false after issuance of the official report of the inquiry commission.Meanwhile, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has decided to launch his own political party.“I am launching my own political party,” Chaudhry, who earned himself a reputation by facing off with the powerful military dictator, told reporters.
He said that he intended to form his own party in the aftermath of the verdict of Inquiry Commission which declared him free from charges of alleged rigging.
Chaudhry, who was accused by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf of helping Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sweep the general elections held on May 11, 2013, sounded out that the Judicial Commission, formed to investigate the alleged organised election rigging, had proved Imran Khan a liar.
“By declaring the polls just and legal, the inquiry commission has vindicated the honour of entire judiciary including me,” Chaudhry said.In his turbulent eight-year stint, during which he defied and outplayed the military ruler Musharraf, terminated a prime minister and changed the Supreme Court’s role from political pawn to power player, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, 67, retired as Pakistan’s chief justice in December 2013.
He left the Supreme Court that had now proved able to call even the country’s powerful generals to account. Talking about the next general elections, Iftikhar Chaudhry said it was the need of the hour that a mechanism be devised so that no political party was accused of rigging.
