GUJRANWALA: Two demonstrations were staged against the Wasa for not draining out sewage and rainwater here on Friday.
The Union Council No-11 chairman, vice-chairman and councillors staged a demonstration against the Wasa for its alleged failure to drain out rainwater and sewage from their area. They said that they had brought the matter into the notice of the Wasa managing director but to no avail. They said that overflowing gutters had inundated their houses and completely ruined their outer walls and basements.
Meanwhile, dozens of residents of Gulshan Town and Fazal Town staged a demonstration against a local MPA and the Wasa in front of the DCO Office for not draining out rainwater. The protesters chanted slogans against the MPA and the Wasa MD. They also stopped a prisoners van on a road. The protesters dispersed when the DCO assured them of resolving their issue.

Woman accuses five brothers-in-law of killing husband

GUJRANWALA: A woman has accused her five brothers-in-law of killing her husband.
In an application to the CPO, Nasreen Qaisar of Ittefaq Colony said that her husband Qaisar Ikram was kidnapped by unidentified persons on February 8, 2011 and a case was registered with Satellite Town police station on February 9, 2011. She said that police had so far failed to arrest the culprits and recover her husband.
Now, she was informed by some people that her husband was allegedly abducted and killed by his brothers Rana Sultan, Rana Ahsan, Rana Usman, Rana Gulfam and Rana Imran for occupying his property. She claimed that when she asked the accused persons about it, they confessed their crime and asked her to forgive them. The applicant said that she had no child.
Meanwhile, the CPO has marked the application to the DSP, the SHO and the ASI concerned for an early action and they have started investigation.
Dacoits have a field day in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: People were deprived of cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables in 18 dacoity and theft incidents here on Friday.
In the first incident, dacoits snatched Rs 13,000 and a mobile phone from Farooq Alam at Qila Didar Singh. In the second incident, robbers looted Rs 15,000 and a cellphone from Nabeel at Dhulley. In the third incident, bandits intercepted Munawar and his wife and snatched Rs 27,000, gold ornaments and a mobile phone from them at Kamoke. In the fourth incident, robbers looted Rs 30,000 and two mobile phones from Umer at Gakhar. In the fifth incident, armed men took away a motorcycle from Amjad at Ladhewala Warraich.
In the sixth incident, robbers snatched Rs 32,000, a gold chain and a mobile phone from Ashfaq Cheema at Sohdra. In the seventh incident, bandits looted Rs 26,000, a gold ring and a mobile phone from Rashid at Kot Ladha. In the eighth incident, dacoits robbed Hashim of Rs 42,000 and three mobile phones at Tatlewali. In the ninth incident, robbers snatched Rs 16,000 and a mobile phone from Luqman in Wazirabad city police limits. In the tenth incident, robbers snatched Rs 25,000 and a mobile phone from Hafeez at Wazirabad. In the eleventh incident, dacoits snatched Rs 20,000, a gold ring and a cellphone from Mehmood in Gujranwala Sadr police limits.
Thieves took away cash and valuables from the houses of Ahtesham, Aftab and Jehangir and motorcycles of Dubair, Adil, Mureed Hussain and Sharif from different parts of the city.
