DERA GHAZI KHAN: Gadai police have arrested one of the accused in the honour killing case while the remaining accused have reportedly escaped abroad.
Sources claimed that police had arrested Iqbal but did not disclose it to round up the fleeing accused. Talking to newsmen, the Gadai SHO said that the police raided the hideouts and houses of the accused on Monday night and hoped that all the accused would soon be arrested. He said that the women present in the houses of the accused had no clue to them.
The complainant, Khair Muhammad Leghari, claimed that his son Allah Ditta Leghari was killed in the name of honour despite the woman, who had eloped with Allah Ditta, was handed over to the family after an intervention of the elders. Khair Muhammad, a folksinger, said that the accused chopped off Allah Ditta’s nose and arms which caused his death.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the police to arrest all accused.
Meanwhile, Allah Ditta was buried in his ancestral graveyard. He has left behind a widow and two daughters.
