DCO for timely completion of LA-131 polls arrangements

GUJRANWALA: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Amir Jaan Saturday said arrangements for free and fair polls for LA-131 must be completed in time.
Addressing a meeting held at his office to review polling arrangements in connection with the Kashmir assembly election, the DCO said polling buildings would be provided with necessary furniture and other facilities for a smooth polling without any delay.
District Election Commissioner Nadeem Qasim, ADC Tariq Qureshi, DO Coordination Dr Hafsa Rani and other officers concerned were also present. The DCO directed the officers concerned to complete the arrangements for training of the polling staff, provision of transport and security and shifting of polling boxes to polling stations. District Election Commissioner Nadeem Qasi told the meeting 66 polling stations have been set up for LA-131, ballot papers, polling boxes and other equipment will be transferred through Pak Army personnel while polling will be done on July 30, 2016 for which training of the staff has been started.
RAINWATER PARALYSES CITY: Although the downpour turned the weather pleasant, yet rainwater has entered houses and accumulated on roads paralyzing life in the city. The rainwater entered the government buildings and houses and buildings of low-lying areas. Drainage system in several areas of the city failed, submerging major roads and streets. The citizens urged departments concerned to remove rainwater by upgrading drainage system in the city.
YOUTH DIES: A youth lost his life when a tree fell on him at Nokhar on Saturday. Reportedly, Adeel, 20, was cutting a tree when it suddenly fell on him, causing severe injuries to him. He was rushed to DHQ Hospital where he died.
