Flash floods wreak havoc in Shangla

BISHAM: Two houses, four vehicles and three small hydel power houses were swept away in a flash flood at Lodar area in Damorai union council, rescue officials and local sources said on Friday.

The flash floods wreaked havoc at Damorai union council in Shangla district after the area received heavy downpour. The sources said that rain, which had started late Thursday night, continued throughout the day.

Residents left the Karora Kuz Killay as landslide buried many houses. “Many houses filled with unruly flood water forcing the inmates to evacuate and take refuge in safe places,” local sources said. The link roads in Lodar area of Damorai and Shahtoot, Sangrai, Donai, Chechlo areas of Ranyal union council were also washed away by the flash floods, entrapping the residents in the affected zones.

The broken link roads added to the sufferings of the affected people as rescue teams and district administration were unable to reach the affected areas.
