ISLAMABAD: Ambassadors of six countries presented their credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday at an impressive ceremony here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Those who presented the credentials included envoys of Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Republic of Korea, Somalia, Sudan and Sweden.As part of the tradition, the envoys arrived at the main gate of the Aiwan-e-Sadr in a horse driven carriage. National anthem of Pakistan and anthems of the respective countries were played. A guard of honour was also presented.
Later, the high commissioner and ambassadors separately called on the president.The president said Pakistan was desirous of further promoting friendly and brotherly relations with all the countries, particularly with its neighbours for peace, stability and prosperity in the region. He said Pakistan offers great investment opportunities and urged the ambassadors to help their investors avail these opportunities.
Talking about Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism, the president said Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and was committed to end this. He said the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was progressing successfully and added it would continue till elimination of the last terrorist.
The president felicitated the newly appointed high commissioners and ambassadors to Pakistan and hoped they would work for further cementing the existing ties of their respective countries with Pakistan. The president also wished the newly appointed envoys a comfortable and pleasant stay in Pakistan. The envoys who presented their credentials included Tarik Ahsan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizada, Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Suh Dong gu, Ambassador of Republic of Korea, Mrs. Khadija Mohamed Al Makhsumi, Ambassador of Somalia, Tageldin Elhadi Eltahir, Ambassador of Sudan and Ms. Ingrid Johansson, Ambassador of Sweden.
