Governor says youth should be facilitated to serve country
PESHAWAR: The first convocation of the University of Swabi was held at the Convocation Hall of the University of Peshawar here on Thursday.
Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was the chief guest at the event.The governor, accompanied by the University of Swabi Vice-Chancellor Noor Jehan, awarded degrees to 273 graduates, 73 among them women. Up to 17 graduates received gold medals.
The members of various faculties, Senate and Syndicates were also present.The chief guest greeted the graduates and their parents. They also reminded them of their responsibilities. “We should facilitate our youth so that they need not to leave the country and their talent is utilised in own country,” he added.
Iqbal Zafar Jhagra praised the efforts of Ms Noor Jehan as the first woman vice-chancellor of a public sector university in the KP for successfully completing the two badges of the graduates. The governor encouraged the students towards research work on industrial problems for a prosperous tomorrow of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The chief guest also announced Rs10,000 for each gold medalist. The University of Swabi intends to start MPhil programmes in sciences, arts and social sciences in the near future.
