IHK killings: UN urged to play role to defuse tension

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) president Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz has expressed concern over the Indian atrocities in Indian Held Kashmir.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that deaths of 30 innocent Kashmiri youths in only three days should be an eye opener for the United Nations (UN) and other international humanitarian organisations. He said that the Kashmiris had been waging struggle for their fundamental right of self-determination for the last eight decades. He said that the Indian forces had unleashed a wave of terror in the valley to deprive the Kashmiris of their fundamental right of self-determination.
He said that killing of 30 innocent people had created an alarming situation in the region and the UN should play its role to defuse the increasing tension in the region. He warned that the continued tension might lead the two atomic powers towards an “unwanted war”, which would be detrimental to the international peace and tranquility. He said that Indian had already imposed two wars on Pakistan in the garb of unresolved Kashmir issue.
Mystery shrouds death of couple married six months ago

FAISALABAD: Mystery shrouded the death of a couple at Aslam Nagar in Civil Lines police limits here.
Amir Riaz (27) had contracted marriage with Zahida Bibi (25) about six months ago. On Wednesday, they were found dead in their house in mysterious circumstances.
According to the parents, the couple ate poisonous Shawarma which caused their death. However, the Civil Hospital doctors are of the view that the couple committed suicide. Police have started investigations.
Meanwhile, DCO Salman Ghani has constituted a four-member committee to probe the mysterious death of a couple. The committee comprises the additional district collector, the SP Investigation, the health EDO and the Allied Hospital medical superintendent. The committee has been directed to complete the inquiry in a week.
Rickshaw driver commits suicide

FAISALABAD: A 20-year-old rickshaw driver committed suicide at Kot Ghulam Rasool, Samundri.
Tahir Mushtaq was upset over financial problems as he was earning a meager amount from his rickshaw. On Wednesday, he ended his life by consuming poison.
Faisalabad to have new master plan for water supply

FAISALABAD: A 20-year new master plan for sweet drinking water and improvement of sewerage of Faisalabad is on the cards, said Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz.
Talking to The News here on Wednesday, he said that the French government would provide funds for the mega plan. He said that a 12-member JICA team would visit Faisalabad on July 19 and hold a meeting with the Wasa engineers to chalk out salient features of the master plan. He said that the JICA team would stay in Faisalabad for 18 months.
