Six terrorists shot dead in Okara encounter

OKARA: Six terrorists were shot dead in an encounter with the police and other law-enforcing agencies while two others succeeded to escape.

District Police Officer Faisal Rana claimed that the police and the agencies on a tip-off rounded up Dhari (farmhouse) of Naeem Jhakhar in village 28/2R, Kulyana state, around 2:30am. The persons present inside the farmhouse came to know about police arrival and  immediately started shooting from inside. The joint force retaliated. The shooting continued for three long hours, resulting in the death of six terrorists.

The joint force recovered one rocket launcher with ammunition, a detonator, five Kalashnikov rifles, five SMG rifles, Indian and Russian made explosive material, one suicide jacket, one mobile cell and complete map of the premises and building of DPO, Okara.

The Rescue 1122, civil defense and fire brigade teams also arrived there. Four Computerised National Identity Cards were recovered from the corpses which disclosed their identity as Samiullah s/o Ghulam Shabir of Shangla, Yasibur Rehman s/o Murad Gul of Tehsil Tal, Hangu, Amir Habib s/o Tahir Habib of Bannu, KP, Saeedur Rehman s/o Abdul Hameed of Islamabad. The remaining two dead bodies had not yet been identified.

DPO told the owner of Dhari Naeem Jhakhar, acting president Anjumane Mazareen, Punjab, is the brother of Saleem Jhakhar, former president AMP-KS, detained in jail. The DPO said the cell phone recovered at the site had been sent to the forensic lab for collecting further information. Naeem had been pursued by law enforcing agencies for apprehension

DPO said Punjab Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera had telephoned him to encourage Okara police and advised the FIR of this incident would be registered at the counter terrorism department police station in Lahore.
