The whole nation is mourning the loss of Abdul Sattar Edhi, an icon of charity and welfare work. His death is specially heart-rendering for the poor, underprivileged and orphans whom he considered his own brothers, sisters and children.
While our leaders flock to Europe/America for even minor medical procedures, Edhi chose to be treated in a local hospital by Pakistani doctors despite being offered free medical care abroad. He should have been nominated for the Nobel Prize by during his lifetime for his services to humanity both within and outside Pakistan but our rulers failed to campaign and lobby for the Nobel to be given to Edhi. Legends never die and so Edhi will always be remembered by the people for devoting his entire life to social work and philanthropy.
