Man, nephew drown in river

HAFIZABAD: A 40-year-old man and his nephew drowned in Chenab River near Qadirabad Barrage on Eid day.
Mohsin Shah and his nephew Shakeel were taking bath in the river when they went into deep water and drowned. Their bodies could not be recovered till the filing of the report.
Demo against suicide attacks in Saudi Arabia

HAFIZABAD: Sunni Tehrik activists staged a demonstration against the suicide attacks in Saudi Arabia here.
The protesters led by Sunni Tehrik president Usman Shah were chanting slogans against terrorism. They urged the Muslims to unite against the anti-Islamic forces.
Meanwhile, powerloom labourers also staged a demonstration. They were chanting slogans against the US and India. They demanded the rulers of Muslim countries to play their role for eradication of terrorism.
Residents of 50 villages celebrate Eid without electricity

HAFIZABAD: Residents of more than 50 villages celebrated Eid without electricity after windstorm uprooted more than 30 poles of 1100kv on Wednesday night.
A large number of people of different villages, including Vanike Tarar, Bariwala, Solgeen, Amro Kalan and Kot Ishaq, said that they were without electricity for the last three days. They have demanded the high-ups concerned restore power supply to solve their problems.
According to Gepco Cantonment circle SE Liaqat Dhiloon, the company teams were busy restoring power supply.
OBITUARY: The daughter of Government High School No-1 former headmaster Muhammad Nazir Farooqi died here.
She was the sister of educationist Asif Mehmood Farooqi and Maj Arshad Mehmood Farooqi and mother of Squadron Leader Imran Farooqi. She was buried in a local graveyard.
