DERA GHAZI KHAN: Hundreds of tribesmen belonging to Qaisrani tribe continued their protest on the third day against the firing on a car of former MPA Mir Badshah Khan Qaisrani by two policemen some days ago.

The protesters blocked Dhodak-Taunsa Sharif Road and demanded registration of a case against the accused policemen. Addressing the protesters, Qaisrani chief tribe Mir Badshah Khan Qaisrani asked them to remain peaceful and do not take law into their hands.

On Sunday, Mir Badshah Qaisrani, Union Council Baathi Chairman Shahid Qaisrani and driver Waseem Qaisrani were on their way when the two officials at a police picket on Basti Buzdar Road intercepted their vehicle and asked them to hand over the vehicle to them but Mir Badshah Qaisrani refused. To it, the policemen allegedly opened fire at the vehicle. As a result, Shahid Qaisrani and Waseem Qaisrani were injured while Badshah Qaisrani luckily remained unhurt. The injured people were shifted to the Taunsa Sharif Tehsil Headquarters Hospital but the doctors referred them to the Multan Nishtar Hospital due to their critical condition.

Taunsa Sharif police are allegedly avoiding to register a case against the accused policemen. Meanwhile, on the directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Faisalabad Regional Police Officer Faisal Siddique Kamyana initiated an inquiry. He also visited the site and recorded statements of eyewitnesses. Mir Badshah Qaisrani also submitted his statement. The inquiry team would also register the statements of the injured people and then submit its report.

According to police officials, the vehicle under the use of the former MPA could be non-custom paid. The former MPA, however, denied the allegation and said that he had all documents of the vehicle.
