ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has taken suo motu notice of transfer and posting of Officers of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The notice was taken on an application of FIA officers of different ranks requesting therein that FIA is a specialized Investigation Agency dealing with technical white collar crimes requiring the services of experienced and trained officers to efficiently handle and deal with such crimes.

Transfer and posting of the officers from PSP cadre of the Police Department to FIA cause serious losses to the service career officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). It also amounts to denial and disobedience of the guidelines given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Criminal Original Petition No. 89, 2011.

Taking notice of the issue the Chief Justice of Pakistan has ordered that the application be treated as Suo Moto proceedings and fixed a hearing in Court on 14.07.2016 with notice to Attorney General of Pakistan and DG FIA.
