Pension plea

This refers to the letter, ‘Post-June pensions’ (July 3) by Humayun Iqbal regarding post-June revised. The writer’s plea for non-discrimination among pensioners with regard to adjustment of pension. Allowing the benefit to only pensioners who retire after July 2016 is very discriminatory and will cause a lot of frustration among the present pensioners. The three mergers must be applied for the calculations of all pensioners or started immediately before the first ad-hoc relief was granted.

It is totally unfair that pensioners who have spent a life time serving the government and are now in their old age and in dire need of finances for their survival are being denied the benefit of this policy. The finance division should look into the matter and work out a reasonable formula with a cut out date which benefits pensioners who were affected by the three ad-hoc reliefs.
