CJP takes suo moto notice on govt failure to conduct census in 18 years

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Anwar Zaheer Jamali, on Monday expressed resentment and questioned about the census exercise, which was last conducted in 1998, it was reported. Taking suo motu notice of irresponsible attitude of the government, he directed the attorney general to submit a report in this regard.

Jamali questioned the relevant authorities for not conducting a census in 18 years and asked what were the reasons for not doing so. The court will hear the case on July 15 for which notices had been sent to attorney general, the statistics chief and other concerned officers.
