Comprehensive security finalised for citizens: RPO

BAHAWALPUR: Regional Police Officer Dr Ehsan Sadiq Monday said a comprehensive security plan has been finalised to extend security to citizens on Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr.

Talking to reporters, the RPO said some 9,622 officers and officials would be headed by 20 SPs and DSPs in districts Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan and Bahawalnagar.

He said the Eid security plan has been divided into three phases as: pre-Eid security, Eid days security and post Eid security.

According to pre-Eid security special security arrangements have been made to deploy police contingents on ‘Chand Raat’ at all important public places.

The RPO ordered installation of special walk through gates at all Eidgahs, Masjids and Imambargahs and all visitors at these holy places should be thoroughly checked through metal detectors prior to their entry into these places. He also directed to deploy quick response force contingent at all religious places, recreational spots, zoo, parks, historical buildings and playgrounds. He directed also deployment of lady police to beef-up the security cover both for ladies and children at parks.

“Special arrangements should also be made to mobilize the police force to gear-up the patrolling process both at highways and important urban roads in Bahawalpur region”, RPO directed.

He asked police concerned authorities to deploy special contingent of police to provide security to visitors at the graveyards in Bahawalpur region. The RPO called upon the police officials to mobilize all available resources to ensure the security of the citizens during Eid. He directed SPs and SHOs to hold meetings of peace committees at the police station level to establish close liaison between police and citizens during Eid.

CM MESSAGE READ OUT: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Dr Ehtisham Anwar Mehr Monday read out the message of the Punjab Chief Minister regarding vital role of local body’s institutions for promoting democratic culture. The message was read out during a special ceremony held at the auditorium of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur.

The ceremony was attended by District Police Officer Bahawalpur Sarfraz Ahmad Falki, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councilors of both Bahawalpur city and tehsil Sadar, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Rao Tasleem Akhter, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Sadar Husnain Khalid Sanpal and acting director local government and rural development Khurshid Ahmad.

The DCO said the Punjab government was mobilizing all available resources to strengthen local body’s institutions.

He said effective measures were underway to provide funds to the LB representatives.

Later, local body’s representatives also spoke about the significance of local body’s institutions and their role to resolve the various issues.

BURNT BODY FOUND: Police recovered a half burnt body from Chak/17 Morr near Liaquatpur on Monday.

According to the SHO PS Liaquatpur, some unidentified killers had killed the man and burnt him to conceal his identification. The body was shifted to THQ Liaquatpur.
