Mosque’s foundation stone laid at Fesco HQ

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rashid Ahmed Aslam Friday laid down the foundation stone for the construction of a new mosque at Fesco headquarters. Some Rs 10 million would be spent on the construction of the mosque and it will be completed in a year. Some 200 people would pray in the mosque at a time and its construction approval was granted by the Fesco Board of Directors (BOD). General Manager (Operations) Masood Salahuddin, CE Amil Siddique, CE Sardar Masood and other Fesco officers were also present.

 

Edible items given to 200 families

FAISALABAD: Edible items were disbursed among 200 underprivileged families at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad under the project of Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) on Friday.

UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan along with Dean Veterinary Sciences Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa, TIKA Senior Programmer Mehmood Saeed, former dean Dr Laeeq Akbar Lodhi and Director Student Affairs Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi distributed the items among the families living on the outskirts of Faisalabad and Samundri. The edible things include wheat, rice, oil, dates, pulses and others items. The VC said the varsity was running a goat distribution project in collaboration with the TIKA to combat poverty. He said under the project, five goats would be given to poor farming community. He condemned suicide attack in Istanbul, saying that we are with the Turkish people in solidarity and in their fight against terrorism. Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said the varsity was making all-out efforts to address the problems of the farming community. Dr Laeeq Akbar Lodhi said per animal milk production in the country was low compared to the rest of the world. Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi said without rural development, the goal of the poverty alleviation cannot be fulfilled.
