Traders demand arrest of killers
LAHORE
Anjuman-e-Arthian has announced closure of all fruits and vegetables markets of Punjab against police failure to arrest the killers of three people including former president of Anjuman.
Addressing the protesters at Badamibagh fruits and vegetables markets on Thursday, president Haji Bashir said police didn’t arrest the killers. He said if police did not arrest the killers before Eid, they will launch strike across the province. He said all the fruits and vegetables markets of the province will close in the first phase which will go for indefinite period if the killers were not arrested.
Former president of Anjuman-e-Arthian was murdered over a business dispute. Three people were murdered and four seriously injured. After the murder, Badamibagh fruits and vegetables markets remained closed for three days ahead of Ramazan while the district government and DIG Investigation Dr Haider Ashraf gathered the elder of the market and made commitment to arrest the killers following which the business activities were resumed.
promoted: The 20th meeting of Provincial Selection Board-II during the current year in a row was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, Shamail Ahmad Khawaja at Civil Secretariat Lahore on Thursday.
Eleven officers belonging to Punjab Secretariat Service (PSS) and 18 officers belonging to Executive Provincial Civil Service (Ex-PCS) cadre have been promoted to grade 18 and will be deputed in the secretariat as well as the other field offices throughout the province in grade 18. The posts vacated by these 17 grade officers will be filled by the officers belonging to Punjab Management Service (PMS) because all the available 17 grade PSS and Ex-PCS officers have been promoted to grade 18 slots.
Secretary Services Punjab Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Secretary Regulations Punjab Dr Saleh Tahir, Additional Secretary Admin (S&GAD) Sahibzadi Waseema Omer and other relevant senior officers participated in the meeting.
Yatrees: Hundreds of Sikh Yatrees who had come to Pakistan to observe 177th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh on Thursday went back to India through Wagha Border in special trains. According to a press release, Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and other board officials saw off the Yatrees at the border.
Yatrees on the occasions were impressed for the arrangements made by the ETPB and other government departments.
