KARACHI: Rangers personnel have arrested Sunni Tehreek chief Sarwat Aijaz Qadri and another leader Shahid Ghauri late on Sunday night.
Sources said that Sarwat Aijaz Qadri and Shahid Ghauri were present at Rangers office for a meeting when they were arrested. However, the drivers and the gunmen of Sunni Tehreek leaders were allowed to leave the premises.
INP adds: The Rangers personnel raided the Karachi office of the Sunni Tehreek in the wee hours of Sunday and took away important papers.The Rangers personnel stayed for at least 10 minutes at the Sunni Tehreek office and took away office documents, the ST spokesman said.
Four Rangers mobiles took part in the overnight raid. The paramilitary force took in security cordon Sunni Tehreek’s office and an adjacent building. Both the buildings were thoroughly scoured by the Rangers personnel. However, no arrests were made during the raid.
According to Rangers sources, the raid was conducted on the basis of information provided during interrogations from the ST workers already in custody.The Rangers sources said the confiscated documents pertain to funding in connection with fitrana and zakat.
