PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended two erring cops of the Jabar Police Station in Mardan.A statement issued here Tuesday stated that the provincial police chief also ordered departmental action against the cops.It said that the cops of Jabar Police Station had reportedly killed an accused Ishaq during an alleged encounter. It said the accused had killed one Hidayat Khan and was trying to escape. They said the police reached the spot to arrest the accused but he fired at the police party. It said the police returned the fire in which the accused was killed. It further said that the police had then denied any encounter and killing of the accused upon which the IGP directed the additional IGP investigation to investigate the incident and submit the report to him.
It said that it was established in the inquiry that the accused Ishaq was killed in police encounter and the report recommended action against Assistant Sub-inspector Sajjad and Constable Ilyas for cancelling the facts.
