Dosti United win Karachi United Ramazan Cup
KARACHI: Dosti United won the Karachi United Ramazan Futsal Cup when they thrashed Rayyan FC 6-1 in the final on Sunday morning.
Dosti United had defeated Vardy FC 8-2 in the first semi-final. Rayyan FC had overcome Karachilona 7-6 in the second semi-final.
The tournament was played over four days at the KU Stadium in Clifton.
The 32 teams were divided into eight groups.
There was participation from a variety of professional and semi-professional teams from different areas of Karachi and also a women’s team, confirming futsal’s growing popularity in the city.
Mujtaba Shahbazkar from Karachilona was the top scorer with 18 goals in six matches. Junaid Bangash from Dosti United won the Golden Glove. Saeed from Rayyan FC was named the player of the tournament and got a cash prize of Rs10,000. Dawn Food, Splash, Lipton and Walls sponsored the event, and FM91 provided radio coverage.
