Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has initiated work to clean Nullah Leh of wastage especially from 'black spots' that halt the smooth flow of water in the face of threats of floods during the upcoming monsoon season.
Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood said six heavy machines have been placed on three 'black spots' including Gawalmandi Bridge, Pirwadhai Bridge and Katarian Bridge and these spots would be cleared before start of the monsoon season.
"Two machines are working on upstream and downstream of Gawalmandi Bridge while other fours are cleaning the Nullah Leh on various spots. The downstream of Katarian Bridge would be cleaned by Wasa and upstream would be cleared by Capital Development Authority," he said.
He said the workers of Wasa have been assigned the specific tasks and the necessary work related to cleanliness of the Nullah Leh is being done with the help of Solid Waste Management Company.
