Mardan govt schools show poor SSC results
MARDAN: Despite government claims about bringing about change in working of the government schools in the province, the students of state-run schools in the district couldn’t get considerable positions in the top 20 in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan.
Majority of the parents of the students studying in the government schools aren’t satisfied with the performance of state-run schools.
The Mardan Board announced the results of the SSC examination on June 15.
Only one student of a government school could make it to the list of the top 20 students.
The elected representatives often claimed that the government had improved the education standard at the state-run educational institutions in the province. However, the results of the SSC examination belied their claims.
The students of the Quid-e-Azam School System operating in Swabi and Mardan district, which is owned by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, gained several positions in the top 20.
According to the results, more than 72 percent students of the government schools have failed the examination. Those who passed the examination secured low marks in the SSC examination.
It may be mentioned here that Mardan, Swabi and Nowshera districts come under the jurisdiction of the BISE Mardan. The board has declared five educational institutions best, but there is no government school among them.
