Cleanliness campaign launched in Lakki, Karak
LAKKI MARWAT: Cleanliness drives were inaugurated in Lakki Marwat and Karak districts to raise awareness among people about the importance of improved hygiene conditions and pollution-free environment.
In Lakki Marwat, District Education Officer Shaukat Ali Khan kicked off the campaign by collecting garbage along with students, scouts and teachers of public sector schools.
The students wearing plastic gloves and facemasks and holding large shopping bags cleaned the blacktop road and disposed of garbage.
The campaign was launched by the education department with support of the Boy Scouts Association on the special instructions of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The DEO also led an awareness walk which started from Government Higher Secondary School Michenkhel and culminated at Michenkhel adda.
The tehsil municipal administrations also launched cleanliness drives in Lakki Marwat and Ghaznikhel towns.
Lakki TMO Kiramatullah Khan and Ghaznikhel TMO Almar Khan opened the drive by sweeping roads with brooms.
Tehsil Officer Regulation Rafiullah Khan, Qaiser Hayat Khan, district khateeb Maulana Abdul Wahab, sanitary inspector Khalid Khan, Anwar Kamal Khan, and other officials were also present.
The municipal officers said on the occasion that the workers of civic bodies would clean clogged drains and remove garbage dumps during the cleanliness campaign.
On the special directives of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice S.M. Attique Shah, District and Sessions Judge Syed Yasir Shabeer also inaugurated the week long cleanliness drive in Karak district.
The occasion was attended among others by DPO Shahbaz Elahi, bar’s president Malik Akhtar Nawaz and judges.
The District and Sessions Judge emphasized the importance of cleanliness and said that a clean environment was inevitable for the health of citizens.
