Over 600 encroachments removed
LAHORE : The district administration, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, continued its anti-encroachment campaign and removed 601 temporary and 57 permanent encroachments here on Saturday.
Under this campaign, which was launched on the special instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, operations were carried out in eight major areas of the city, including Data Town, Mozang Road, Ganga Ram, Lytton Road, Shahdara, Begum Kot, Wandala Road, Township and Gulshan Ravi.
Officials said 24 trucks of goods were seized during the operation and 10 nomadic shanties were shifted from residential areas. The operation, headed by Metropolitan Officer Regulation Headquarters Kashif Jalil, was also supervised by Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Shahid Abbas Kathia.
Four cases were also registered for serious violations, while 14 cattle were seized from residential areas and several notices were issued.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said, “The campaign against encroachments has enhanced the beauty of the city and we are committed to making Lahore a completely encroachment-free city on the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister.”
He said this operation has provided easy access to wide roads for the citizens and has also significantly improved the traffic flow. The district administration and the Metropolitan Corporation were determined to continue this campaign to clear the city of encroachments on a regular basis.
